Reasonable Answers to Sincere Questions about Christianity

Did the Resurrection Really Happen? 1. Christianity rises or falls on the resurrection of Christ. If someone can prove that this event did not actually happen, all of Christianity is proven false. 2. Dr. Greenleaf, the Royal Professor of Law at Harvard University, believed the resurrection to be a hoax, so he put it on trial. In the end he changed his mind. He wrote in his book An Examination of the Testimony of the Four Evangelists by the Rules of Evidence Administered in the Courts of Justice, p.29). "it was IMPOSSIBLE that the apostles could have persisted in affirming the truths they had narrated, had not JESUS CHRIST ACTUALLY RISEN FROM THE DEAD, . . ." 3. The resurrection is mentioned in several extra-biblical documents, including Josephus’ work The Antiquities of the Jews. It is mentioned by the Roman historian Tacitus, and by the Syrian writer Mara bar Serapion. It is mentioned, rather scathingly, in the Jewish rabbinical writings. They were hostile to Christianity but never denied either the resurrection or the empty tomb. Click on the button above to find out more. 4. The apostles, including Paul, wrote their letters while eye-witnesses were still alive. If they were lying, those eye-witnesses, especially the hostile ones, would have called them on it. No one did. As we stated at the beginning. Christianity is not a subjective, feel good religion-crutch for weak- minded individuals. It is an entire worldview based on actual historical facts related to creation, the fall and the resurrection and restoration of mankind. One only has to disprove the facts and they can bring Christianity to its knees. In 2000 years, no one has succeeded.
