Reasonable Answers to Sincere Questions about Christianity

What is Salvation? 1. Christianity teaches that all mankind was created in the image of God. God gave man one command, and the free will to choose to obey voluntarily. 2. Man did not obey, and thereby sinned against God, causing a separation between a holy God and now sinful man. 3. Man owed the penalty for sin but could not pay it. So God, in His love, came to earth in the form of a man (Jesus) and paid the penalty Himself. 4. Man's destiny was death, but Jesus conquered death by rising from the dead. Now anyone that puts their trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ will be saved and have eternal life. 5. Becoming a Christian means recognizing that you are sinful and can't save yourself. Then you turn to God, the only one who can save you, and accept the free gift of grace that has already been obtained on your behalf. 6. When we become Christians, we allow God to send His Holy Spirit to begin working in our lives. It's the job of the Holy Spirit to transform us until we become like Christ. Our job is to cooperate with the Holy Spirit by surrendering our will and letting God have His way with us. 7.
